Grand Erie Motors will serve as a movie set location for scenes in the 2016 miniseries 11.22.63 starring James Franco. Filming will take place at 502 Broad Street East in Dunnville from June 9-11, 2015.
For a few days the Grand Erie Motors building and lot will be converted into a scene from Stephen King's 2011 novel which will be brought to life on tv screens in 2016 in the form of a miniseries.
Knowles restaurant (174 Queen St., Dunnville) will also serve as a set location for 11.22.63. Will it host any of the scenes where the main character time travels back in history by entering a portal through his diner pantry? We'll find out soon enough.
Note to self: It's been awhile since you stopped in for a bite at Knowles. Next time, you definitely need to check out their pantry. You just never know what James Franco might leave behind.
Dunnville is a great choice for a 50s/60s movie setting. The view when looking at the Google map panorama of Grand Erie Motors' location harkens back to that era. The only giveaway is the modern cars which the production crew has already arranged to have out of sight during filming.
So, this week small town Dunnville meets A-list Hollywood in grand historical style. I can hardly wait to see the miniseries and how our town translates on screen.
